"The Spengleri Stooges"

This piece will be available at the TTPG auction November 21st in Arizona !

Geoemyda spengerli aka Leaf Turtles are native to southeast Asia in the Motane forests in China, Vietnam and Laos. It was important to use both native plants and those commonly used in their terrariums, like Lipstick Vine and Mock Strawberries. I also focused on native insects like Amber Ducky isopods and Pteroptyx firefly which are well known in southeast Asia for having a synchronized flashing display in late summer/ early fall.

I even got to include some newly discovered fungus flowers that had just been published a month before!

If you would like to learn more about this painting, its process, or the species I chose and why, you can find that in my blog!
